Late pop legend Michael Jackson's "unsettled" spirit has apparently begged ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley to forgive him at a seance, her friend Karen Fayehas revealed.

Faye, who was Jackson's make-up artist, said she and Marie Presley, 42, contacted the King of Pop using a psychic last week where he asked for forgiveness for his wrongs to her, reports thesun.co.uk.

"He seemed to be on a mission to reach out to people in his life and be forgiven. Michael spent his time explaining his faults and wanting us to forgive him. He seemed unsettled," said Faye.

Faye insisted the medium had "no idea" of their link to Jackson, who died aged 50 last June.

"There were definite, deep insights that would have been difficult to make up. It was detailed on the inner dynamics of his family and his levels of pain and emotional inability," she said.

She further informed Jackson would not discuss manslaughter charges faced by his doctor Conrad Murray in Los Angeles.

"He said he was detached from things," he said.

Jackson married Marie Presley in 1994 before splitting after 18 months.

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has been hailed as the most beautiful star of the past decade, according to a British poll.

Steven Spielberg is teaming up with Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall to take a World War I novel to the big screen.

The Hollywood icon has bought the rights to Michael Morpurgo's 1982 book Warhorse, which follows the relationship between a boy and his horse in the backdrop of the Great War.

Spielberg has recruited Hall to adapt the book for Hollywood, and he will produce the project. It is unknown if he will also direct.

The filmmaker, who tackled World War II in Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, tells Variety, "From the moment I read the book, I knew this was a film I wanted to make. Its heart and its message provide a story that can be felt in every country."

It takes a special film to transform an audience of movie critics, highly-trained skeptics who can dismiss the most painstakingly crafted work with a mere smirk and roll of the eyes, into a bunch of glowing, giddy teenagers, but that’s precisely what happened earlier this week when Avatar, James Cameron’s extraordinary new sci-fi epic, screened for the first time. Count me among the awestruck rabble; Avatar is a truly astounding piece of filmmaking, a leap forward in visual effects artistry that sets a lofty new standard by which future event films will be judged.

Avatar wastes little time before unleashing the spectacle. Perhaps sensing our collective anticipation, Cameron serves up the barest of backstories before shoving off for Pandora, the staggeringly lush planet upon which the film’s futuristic tale unfolds. Through the eyes of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a crippled ex-marine who navigates Pandora vicariously through a bio-engineered surrogate (aka, an avatar), we’re introduced to the planet’s boundless, breathtaking collection of natural and unnatural wonders, all created from scratch, rendered with uncanny fluidity, and presented in the most realistic and immersive 3-D ever witnessed on film.

Occasionally, Avatar’s technical triumph is betrayed by its maddeningly derivative storyline, which borrows elements wholesale from Dances With Wolves, The Last Samurai and countless similar films about oppressors switching sides and going native. Sent to gather intelligence on the Na'vi, Pandora’s blue-skinned indigenous population, for an Earth-based mining consortium, Jake becomes enamored with the proud, peace-loving natives and their groovy, granola ways. Soon enough, he’s joined their tribe, taken a smokin’ hot native girl for a wife (Zoe Saldana), and organized an army to help repel the encroachment of the rapacious earthlings.

The Bad Guys (Avatar’s moral perspective is as monochromatic as Pandora is colorful) who initiate the assault on the Na'vi are led by a tag team of grotesque, absurdly one-dimensional villains: Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi) the khaki-lad, bottom line-obsessed corporate administrator of the mine; and Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), a bug-eyed, musclebound sadist who commands the mine’s vast security force. As Pandora’s Cortez and Pizzaro, they form a potent one-two punch of arrogant imperialist caricatures, deriding the noble Na'vi with sophomoric slurs like “blue monkeys” and “fly-bitten savages that live in a tree.” Neither would think twice of eliminating them entirely in order to procure the exceedingly rare, obscenely valuable element known as — I sh*t you not — Unobtainium.

Unobtanium? Really? It’s that kind of ham-fisted, uninspired pap littered throughout Avatar that makes me want to tear my hair out. If Cameron devoted a fraction of his time and effort toward improving the script as he spent perfecting the bone structure of the viperwolf (one of Pandora’s innumerable animal species), we might have a bona fide classic on our hands. But in Avatar, story and character development are treated as obstacles, pockets of narrative brush that must be clear-cut to make way for construction of the next extraordinarily elaborate set piece.

And yet, despite its flaws, Avatar represents one of those exceedingly rare instances in which style triumphs over substance — and by a landslide. I don’t know if Cameron has revolutionized the movie-watching experience (as he famously promised) but he’s surely improved upon it.

Natalie Portman is set to star in and produce Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an adaptation of the book by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austen.

Austen, of course, wrote Pride and Prejudice almost 200 years ago, but Grahame-Smith took the liberty of adding bloodthirsty flesh-eaters to the narrative for his tome. Lionsgate will finance and distribute.

Portman will produce through her Handsomecharlie shingle with Annette Savitch, plus Darko Films' Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm, says Variety.

The book tells the story of a woman's quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.

Portman will play Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of Mr. Darcy.

Portman currently stars in the Jim Sheridan-directed drama Brothers. Her production company recently set up Booksmart at Fox and is partnered with Plan B at Paramount on an adaptation of the Leanne Shapton book Important Artifacts, a potential screen vehicle for Portman and Brad Pitt.

Hollywood actress Jessica Biel has started believing in aliens after giving a voice over for an upcoming animated flick on extra-terrestrials.

The actress who voices an extra-terrestrial being Neera in new animated movie Planet 51 doesn't understand why people are not open to the possibility that there are civilisations on other planets, The Independent online reported.

"I definitely believe in the possibility of intelligent life on other planets. There's just so much space out there not to believe in that. For me, the idea with this movie is to be open to change," Biel said.

"You should be accepting of change because, only through change, can you grow and learn more about yourself, as a human or alien," the 27-year-old actress added.

The film follows a NASA astronaut, Captain Charles Chuck Baker voiced by Dwayne Johnson who lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first to set foot on it but later finds out inhabitants who get frightened of him thinking he's an invader.

"It was just fun. I wanted to do it because it was speaking to my inner child 'Yes, I want to be an alien. Yes, I want to be green'," Biel said.

Jessica Biel has confessed that she has a crush on actress Jennifer Garner. However, the beauty suggested that she isn't exactly sexually attracted to the Daredevil star.

Quentin Tarantino thrilled fans by recently announcing he is working on a third installment of the martial arts marathon, set to hit theaters in 2014.

The first two films proved hugely successful, providing Thurman with her most iconic role yet, as the Bride -- a killer assassin out for revenge -- and pulled in $332 million worldwide.

And the actress reveals that Tarantino has allowed his muse first access to the unfinished plotline -- and she can't wait to get back into character.

She says, "We did chat. He has not yet finished the script. I don't even really know if he's really started it, although I got a taste of some of his ideas and they are really good. He has started to share with me what he was thinking, and it's awesome."

The proposed Kill Bill Vol. 3 will be set 10 years after the last installment to allow Thurman's character to "have a break" from her bloody revenge mission.

The guy who lent Lindsay Lohan his Maserati -- which she proceeded to smash up -- finally came to his senses and decided to just rent her another car instead. The only problem -- he claims she never paid him.

Dennis DeSantis claims Lindsay owes him a total of $10,260 for various cars she rented from his company, Specialty Car Craft, back in May.

The bill goes up to $12,310 when you factor in other expenses like detailing and towing.

Lindsay slightly cracked up the Maserati she borrowed from him back in March. DeSantis forgave her for that, but says he is considering legal action for the unpaid bill.

A rep for Lohan could not be reached for comment.

Set sometime in the near future, Surrogates imagines a world in which 99% of its inhabitants live their lives vicariously through “surrogates,” robotic avatars who brave the hazards of the physical world while their schlubby owners sit safely at home in computerized cocoons, experiencing it all via neural sensors affixed to their heads. Think of it as a flesh-and-blood version of World of Warcraft. Or Facebook. Or The Sims. Potential present-day analogies are practically infinite.

As a consequence of mankind’s virtualized existence, violent crime has dropped to an all-time low, since any harm inflicted on a surrogate results in no such injury to its host. Folks are free to go about their increasingly decadent business without fear of the inevitable drawbacks that come with high-risk lifestyles. If their robotic counterpart happens to incur damage, or cease functioning altogether, owners can simply order a replacement from VSI, the suitably dubious mega-corporation in Surrogates that manufactures and markets the robots.

Not everyone is eager to embrace this new world order, of course, and a determined group of quasi-religious luddites, led by a dreadlocked guru aptly named “The Prophet” (Ving Rhames), has assembled in major cities around the world. Eschewing most modern technology, they toil like the Amish in shabby communes as their Prophet regales them with apocalyptic diatribes.

Back in the civilized world, cracks in the utopian edifice form when a pair of surrogate murders result in the deaths of their respective hosts, something heretofore considered impossible. Called in to investigate the first homicides in years, FBI agents Greer (Bruce Willis) and Peters (Radha Mitchell), discover that one of the victims is the son of Canter (James Cromwell), the very man who first invented robotic surrogates. Greer and Peters naturally assume the Prophet and his acolytes to be at the core of the conspiracy, but a nagging question remains: How could they gain access to the advanced technology necessary to create a weapon capable of killing both a surrogate and its host?

WHAT’S GOOD?

Clocking in at a breezy 88 minutes, Surrogates spares its audience the troubling metaphysical questions that so often characterize more ambitious sci-fi projects. Much like the robots at the heart of its story, director Jonathan Mostow’s (Terminator 3) film may be shallow and synthetic, but it sure is pretty to look at. Expect to spend more time contemplating Willis’ absurd blonde wig or Mitchell’s remarkable robotic rack than the implications of society’s increasing disconnect from itself.

WHAT’S BAD?

With its all-too-thin storyline and derivative characters, Surrogates makes for a forgettable, if occasionally entertaining, experience. A subplot involving the increasingly strained relationship between agent Greer and his wife (played by Rosamund Pike), presumably meant to add depth to Willis’ character, feels tedious and unnecessary. A monotonous score telegraphs every decisive moment in the film, ensuring that even the most oblivious viewer is aware that something important is about to happen. And despite director Mostow’s obvious proficiency with visual effects — both practical and digital — some set pieces look cheaply rendered.

There are dozens — dozens — of car crashes in Surrogates, yet not a single airbag deploys. The future, it seems, has no place for proper automobile safety.

Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson is drowning in debt.

The 42-year-old owes $1.1 million to various construction companies for remodelling work on her Malibu home as well as back state taxes, Los Angeles County records show.

According to the documents, five different construction companies have filed cases against her home, the largest being $674,043 for labour and materials to remodel the main house, and build a swimming pool and foundations for a guest house.

Crippling bouts of insecurity left actress Megan Fox cutting herself as a teenager.

The actress admits that her status as one of Hollywood's sexiest stars has done little to help self-esteem issues she has suffered her entire life, but she refuses to reveal details about her self-harming past, because she doesn't want to make herself a role model for other insecure teenage girls.

In a candid new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Fox confirms she did self-harm herself as a teen, but adds, "I don't want to elaborate. I would never call myself a cutter. Adam Goldstein has been found dead in his New York apartment, after suffering a reported drug overdose.

Police broke into his home on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan at 5:20 p.m. on Friday evening after they were alerted by a concerned friend who had been unable to reach him for several days, reports TMZ.com.

The New York Post is reporting that drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment.

Goldstein's death, at the age of 36, comes nearly a year after he and Travis Barker were involved in a plane crash in South Carolina that killed four people. He suffered severe burns when the Learjet burst into flames after overshooting the runway.

The star, who famously dated Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore, had battled drug addiction in the past and revealed earlier this year he had attempted suicide while high on crack cocaine when he was 24 years old.

New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) He is six-foot-four-inch tall and a nine-time world wrestling champion, but contrary to his action image, Dwayne Johnson alias 'The Rock' loves acting in family entertainers like his latest film "Race to Witch Mountain".

So despite being an action figure, Johnson has featured in many humourous movies like "Southland Tales", "The Game Plan", "Get Smart" and "Be Cool". And he credits his movie picks to his seven-year-old daughter.

"I recognised the importance of having a movie that the entire family can see. Being a dad made me understand how important and valuable it is to have really good family films," Johnson said in an e-mail interview to IANS.

But body building is still close to his heart and he follows a strict fitness regime to maintain his huge build.

"Training is always important to me, it is the foundation of my lifestyle and the anchor of my day. I get up very early at 3.45 a.m. and I'm out of the house by 4.45 a.m. and usually training by 5 a.m. I train until 6.15 a.m. and then I'm on the (movie) set by 7 a.m.," Johnson said.

"My workout is my cup of coffee in the morning, my sanctuary. I do a lot of cardio...I keep that consistent, because I like having my heart rate between 120 and 130 for the entire hour and 15 minutes. I combine cardio with resistance training, weights and core training. It is all non-stop and the goal for me is to challenge myself every day with different workouts," added the wrestling champion who weighs 102 kilos.

Johnson, who made his big screen debut in a cameo in a 2000 teen movie, "Longshot: The Movie", follows a simple diet regime.

"My diet is simple and very clean. I stay away from fried foods and fast food. But every third or fourth day, I do give myself the opportunity to completely gorge and I indulge in a little gluttony. I eat pizza or whatever I feel like. I do like a drink or two," said the The 37-year-old Canadian-American actor.

Johnson's "Race to Witch Mountain" hits Indian screens Aug 21. Directed by Andy Fickman, the film is a modern-day re-imagining of Alexander Key's 1968 novel "Escape To Witch Mountain" that was made into a 1975 classic with the same name and followed up in 1978 with "Return from Witch Mountain".

"I was a big fan of the original film while growing up and, coincidentally, my little girl who is seven is a big fan too...before this film was in development, we had watched the older film together. It is such a fascinating theme," he said.

"Race To..." stars Johnson as a cab driver who teams up with two teens with supernatural powers to save the world by unravelling the secrets of the Witch Mountain while eluding the government, mobsters and extra-terrestrials who want to stop them.

Also in the movie are AnnaSophia Robb, Alexander Ludwig, Ciar?n Hinds and Carla Gugino.

Going by his heavy-build image, Johnson also guarantees "great action throughout the film" and "big fight scenes".

Johnson is also hopeful the film would be liked by Indian audiences. "Even though the film is going to fire children's imagination, it is going to be entertaining for audiences of all ages," he said.

Johnson, who was first cast as the lead actor in "The Scorpion King" (2001), is content with his career. His future projects include "Planet 51" (voiceover), "Tooth Fairy", a fantasy comedy, and action drama "Faster".

"Everything is non-stop for me just now and I'm very happy. But I want to continue to work in different genres and have that ability to move from action to comedy and make good movies. I just love all aspects of making movies...It is all so enjoyable and I'm very grateful," he said.

Lindsay Lohan’s neighbours apparently want the actress to move out after being fed up with the paparazzi who take up the parking space.

The singer’s peeved neighbours said “it has been a nightmare” ever since the star, whose house has been twice burglarised, shifted in Hollywood Hills, according to RadarOnline.com.

"The truth is that this is a very quiet neighborhood and there have been no break-ins apart from at Lindsay Lohan''s house," the New York Daily News quoted a neighbour as saying.
